Locals earn postseason honors from volleyball, football
GRANITE COUNTY – Area teams had great success this season, with all three squads entering postseason play.
Both Drummond and Granite advanced into the Western Divisional Tournament in volleyball, with the Lady Trojans coming within a victory of making it to the state bracket.
But it was the Lady Prospectors were garnered an extra player on the Class C All-State roster in juniors Ella Tallon and Montannah Piar. Drummond senior Delaney Wagner was honored as well.
The trio were also part of the All District 13C team, with sophomore Kimber Parsons joining Wagner from Drummond. Rounding out the First Team roster were Aubrey Matthew from Seeley Swan and Makenna Copenhaver from Lincoln.
Granite junior Ramsey Smith and Drummond sophomore Brooke Hicks were members of the Second team along with Taevyn Beaudin (Sr, Valley Christian), Riley Burkhalter (So., Valley Christian), Taylor McKinley (Sr. Victor), and Kilty Hanson (So., Seeley Swan).
The Flint Creek Titans finished the 2023 season at 6-4 with a first-round loss at Arlee, despite having only two seniors on the squad.
One of those senior leaders was Trey Phillips, who was named to the All-State First Team from the South Central Conference. Phillips was second on the Titans in tackles with 61 (36 solo, 25 assisted) and led in tackles for loss (8) and quarterback sacks (4). On offense he had 28 receptions for 464 yards and three touchdowns and acted as the Titans’ primary punter.
For his career Phillips finished sixth on the all-time Flint Creek list in receiving with 512 yards.
Phillips was tabbed with two of the seven spots that the Titans earned on the All-South Central Conference Team.
Phillips was tabbed as a First Team selection at Tight End and Defensive End. On offense he was joined by Logan Hauptman (Jr., 1st Team, Running Back), and Riley Wiant (Sr., 2nd team, Center). Other members selected on defense were Austin Knoeller (So., 1st Team, Inside Linebacker), Eric Pitcher (2nd Team, Outside Linebacker), and Tavho Lattin (Jr. 2nd team, Interior Defensive Lineman).
