One dead, two injured in Thursday crash along I-90
GRANITE COUNTY - Emergency crews were dispatched from Granite County Thursday, responding to an automobile accident that occurred along Interstate 90 at mile marker 142.
According to a press release from the Granite County Sheriff's Department, the incident saw a single east-bound vehicle leave the roadway and cross the median, crossing the west-bound lanes and coming to rest in the Clark Fork River with three people trapped inside. Two victims were transported to Missoula area hospitals for treatment with a third, a Washington state resident, being pronounced dead on the scene.
The accident backed up west-bound traffic on I-90 for several miles and more than 90 minutes as rescue crews and Life Flight responded. In addition to local sheriff's officers, members of the Valley Fire District volunteer fire department also responded.
