Pfendler drops the hammer on 3-mile time in Butte
BUTTE – The Drummond Cross Country Team competed at the Butte High Invitational Cross Country Carnival Saturday, with three of the four members posting personal bests.
Freshman Jonathan Pfendler knocked more than a 90 seconds off his personal best time, finishing the meet in 131st place in a time of 20:33.5. There were 250 runners in the Men’s JV division. His previous best was posted at the Thompson Falls Invitational when he ran a 23:09.5
Twin sisters Maddie and Gracie Yakos also posted personal bests in the Varsity Girls division. Maddie finished 28th in a time of 20:32.6 while Gracie was 47th at 21:19.3.
After having played a Homecoming football game Friday night and battling a mild cold all week, Sophomore Cordell Langton competed with Pfendler in the Men’s JV division, coming 211th in a time of 22:08.3.
“All the kids ran hard today,” said Head Coach Darcy Schindler. “Johnathan PR'd by 1:36 and ran a relaxed race with much better form. Maddie and Gracie both PR'd and ran in their first varsity competition. Cordell ran hard, being sick all week and playing a full football game last night, he was still within about 38 seconds of his PR.
“(I) sure am proud of the hard work all four have been putting in."
