Prospector hoopsters fall in Tip-Off Tourney openers


HAMILTON – Granite’s boys and girls basketball teams started the year on the wrong side of the scoreboard for the coming basketball season.

Boys Varsity

Darby 52, Granite 36

The Prospectors broke from the gate strong, taking a 20-14 lead into the halftime locker room. But Darby regrouped  and used a 17-10 run in the third to take the lead and eventually the game.

Senior Eric Pitcher led Granite with 17 points while sophomore Jake Dauenhauer added 15. J.J. Lee rounded out the scoring for the locals with three.

McCoy Townsend and Leif Nelson led Darby with 17 points each.

Granite – 16/4/10/6 – 36

Darby – 14/10/17/9 – 52

Granite – Pitcher 17, Dauenhauer 15, Lee 3

Darby – Browning 8, Long 2, Nelson 17, Townsend 17, Woirhaye 3, Martin 4, Bennett 2

 

The Lady Prospectors fell to Darby 46-34. Scoring for the game was unavailable.
