Prospectors fall to Class B Anaconda
ANACONDA – The Granite basketball program took a night off from play against Class C opponents to take on the Class B Copperheads in Anaconda. But despite the loss, Prospector Head Coach Dustin Keltner was happy with the effort and experience his team got.
“We played a very talented basketball team and went toe to toe with them for a long time,” said Keltner of his squad. “We were definitely the more physical team in the first half. It was a very close ball game for nearly 3 quarters.
“We got a lot better as a ball club tonight. Great atmosphere and experience for our kids. I'm very proud of them.”
Granite kept the hosts within reach for three periods, but a 24-10 run over the final eight minutes by the Copperheads put the game well out of reach.
Junior Kade Cutler was the lone Prospector in double figures with 14 points. Brian Ward and Daniel Brabender each chipped in eight.
Granite comes home to Philipsburg Saturday night to host Twin Bridges.
