Prospectors sink Vikings in Charlo

CHARLO – Granite survived a furious Viking fourth quarter, holding on for an eight-point victory to improve to 4-5.

The Prospectors led 49-18 heading in the final eight minutes before the Vikings went on an epic 32-point scoring binge in the fourth that included four three-pointers. Granite scored nine to hold on for the victory.

“We played well,” said GHS Head Coach Paul Kulaski. “(We) came out flat in the first quarter but then got things going. It was a good lesson for the team to keep your foot on the throttle. We gave up a 30 pt lead in the 4th to barely get the win. (We) have to finish games.

“But a win on the road is always a good win.”

Jake Dauenhauer led the way for the Prospectors with 20 points. Logan Fluharty added 14 and Eric Pitcher 13 to close out the double-figure scoring.

Granite gets a day rest before hosting West Yellowstone Saturday. The games are the last home games of the regular season and the school will celebrate its elder statesmen players with Senior Night festivities.
