Prospectors unable to get past Seeley Swan

PHILIPSBURG – The Granite Prospectors were right where they wanted to be as they entered the fourth quarter Saturday night against the visiting Seeley Swan Blackhawks. Leading 22-20 they were about to strike gold when the walls collapsed.

Seeley went on a 19-5 run in the final eight minutes that left the locals with a 12-point loss, 39-27.

“The first half we were doing everything we needed to do,” said GHS Assistant Coach Courtney Jennings. “Going into the second half we started to play scared, afraid of getting our shots blocked. Our guards were the only ones driving into the paint and were getting hounded. We need to start playing for the name on the front of our jerseys and not the back.”

Guards Andrew Tallon and mason Hayden led the Prospectors with nine and eight points, respectively, while Cavan Babbitt and Cayhel White each contributed five.
