Rodeos, Parades, & Concerts – OH MY! Granite County ready to celebrate Independence Day

GRANITE COUNTY – With Independence Day bearing down on us Thursday, there’s lots to do in and around Montana’s Granite County.
The festivities begin Thursday at no one at Georgetown Lake for the annual 4th of July Parade. There’s no official entry or theme, so show up to watch or become part of the parade. The event will take place on Southern Cross Road, starting northeast of the old 7 Gables Restaurant location. This event will be rebroadcast by the Flint Creek Courier on its YouTube Channel.
Later that day, Stockman’s Bar in Hall will host a concert and fireworks from 7 to 10 p.m. Both events are free with Ben Larson & The Grown Ass Men playing at 7 p.m.
In Philipsburg, Winninghoff Park will host Madison Hughes in a concert titled ‘A Salute to Veterans” at 8:15 p.m. Admission is free with seating on the terrace and the field. The event is sponsored by VFW Post 8292 from Maxville, MT.
Saturday is the start of Rodeo Weekend in Drummond.
Things get started at 5 p.m. with the Kid’s Parade starting at the Cenex Station at 5 p.m. This year’s theme if “Patriotism & Voting”. Kid’s under age 18 are invited to participate with 10 $20 prizes awarded after the event at the Community Hall.
The Valley Fire District will host its annual Duck Races at the City Park along the banks of the Clark Form River. The races start at 6:30 p.m.
This annual event is a critical fundraiser for the local volunteer fire department. Tickets can be bight at the event for $5 each or a Flock of 5 for $20.
At 6 p.m. the annual Street Dance begins on Front Street near Swede’s Bar with Caleb Parke & Colt Parsons of the Thirsty Buzzards playing on stage.
At 8 p.m. featured act The Northern Lights will take over and play attendees into the night.
Down at the Canyon Bar, the Banditti Band will open their set at 7 p.m. and play a three-hour set.
All of the street dance performances are free to the general public.

Sunday morning, activities pick up again at 7 a.m. with the Valley Fire District’s annual Pancake Breakfast. For your donation you get a hardy breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and coffee or juice. Like the Duck Races, proceeds from this event go to the local volunteer fire department. Breakfast will be served until 11 a.m.
At 8 a.m. you can wander into the Canyon Bar for their Bloody Mary/Caesar Bar.
Two event start at 9 a.m., starting with the Cowboy Church at the City Park. Right next door will see the first entrants in the Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo with the Slack.
At noon the annual Drummond Rodeo Parade kicks off at the east end of Front Street. Be sure to get out early to secure your spot for this ever-growing event.
And at 3 p.m. the jewel of the holiday weekend hits as the 83rd Drummond Kiwanis PRCA Rodeo takes to the floor of the American Legion Gold Star Post 125 Arena, located just south of City Park.
It should also be noted that throughout the weekend Drummond will have a number of street vendors out as part of the rodeo weekend experience starting at 3 p.m. Saturday and lasting through Sunday. From food to unique arts & crafts, there is certain to be something for everyone!
