State Track Meet ends athletic season for Granite, Drummond
MISSOULA – It was a tough day for area athletes as closed out the 2021 season at the Class C State Track & Field Meet this weekend in Missoula at Big Sky High School.
Sam Bryant and Deana Parke led the way for Drummond, with Bryant having the best finishes of the day for any area athlete with sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles and 16th in the 300m hurdles. The Trojan junior also finished 11th in the 1,600m and 16th in the 800m.
Sophomore Jesse Struna was the sole Granite County athlete with reach the Top three, claiming third in the Javelin with a personal best throw of 114 feet, 11 inches.
Parke lead the Lady Trojans in the final meet of her senior season, finishing seventh in the 4x400m relay with teammates Bailey Parke, Sydney Phillips and Holly Hauptman. She also collected 15th in both the 400m and 800m runs and ninth in the 4x100m relay with teammates Bailey Parke, Gracie Yakos and Hauptman.
Avery Metesh had the top finishes for the Granite Boys in the 100m (19th), 200m (20th) and Long Jump (9th).
Asha Comings was the lone Lady Prospector to compete, earning ninth in the Triple Jump and 18th in the High Jump.
