Struna, Hauptman named Drummond Players of the Year
GRANITE COUNTY – It takes a team to run the table during a high school volleyball season, but without question the Lady Trojans had two at the heart of the engine driving it.
Senior Jesse Struna and Holly Hauptman were named as the Scheels Players of the year by the Flint Creek Courier. The corporate sponsorship honors the best players from both Drummond and Granite High Schools who contribute most to their team through statistics and great team play. Each player receives a $50 gift card from Scheels.
Hauptman has been a driving force at the net, logging 375 kills against 25 opponents this season, scoring on over 28% of attempts. Her biggest total came in a five-set defeat of Powell County October 8th when she hammered 18 attacks for points. Hauptman also had 43 service aces.
Struna has been the person serving up assists all season as the team’s setter, collecting 481 assists in 2022. She has 17 matches with 20 or more assists with five of those being over 30. Like her teammate, Struna’s top performance came against the Lady Wardens October 8th when she dished out 39 assists.
Drummond’s dynamic duo will lead the Lady Trojans into the District 13C Tournament Thursday at 1:45 p.m. against the winner of the Granite vs. Victor match. Drummond is the defending 13C champion, having staged a dramatic comeback in 2021 that culminated with back-to-back five set match victories over the Seeley Swan Lady Blackhawks.
The Flint Creek Courier would like to thank Scheels for their partnership this year.
