Titans mow down Lodge Grass, advance to 2-0

LODGE GRASS – It didn’t take the Flint Creek Titans long to make short work of Lodge Grass Friday, beating the Indians 70-14.

The win improves Flint Creek to 2-0 on the year, tied with Ennis and Manhattan Christian atop the South Division. In other divisional games Ennis beat Lone Peak 55-26, Twin Bridges defeated St. Labre 56-0, and Manhattan Christian bested Sheridan 52-24.

The Titans used their first possession to drive to the Indian 12 where junior Austin Knoeller ran through the right side for a score. Jake Dauenhauer hit Eric Pitcher with the conversion and the locals went up 8-0.

Four minutes later Flint had the ball again when Dauenhauer delivered a 25-yard scoring pass to Michael James for a 14-0 lead. In the final 1:03 of the quarter Wyatt Daniels added a three-yard score and Kadin Graveley returned an interception 42 yards to end the first with a 28-0 lead.

Lodge Grass got on the board early in the second when Keenan Flying tossed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Colvin Wyles to make it 28-6.

But the Titans got right back after it with four more scores before halftime. Dauenhauer got it started with a 32-yard quarterback keeper, followed by an interception from Daniels that he returned 28-yards for a score. Michael Goettle and Lucus Shoutis chipped in short scoring runs allowing Flint Creek to 28 more points for a 56-6 halftime lead.

The Titans had the only score of the third quarter on Dauenhauer’s second TD run, extending the lead to 62-6. Flying added a scoring run in the fourth for Lodge Grass while Goettle threw a 25-yard pass to JJ Lee to close out the game.

Flint Creek returns home Friday, September 13, to host Charlo. The Vikings lost their opener 66-6 to Seeley Swan and last week to St. Regis 54-12.

The Titans are 6-2 lifetime against Charlo, not having played against each other since the 2022 season. Flint Creek won that road game 60-24, making it five straight wins for the locals. The Vikings haven’t visited a Granite County grid iron since 2018 when they lost to the Titans 52-8.

Other South Division games being played this weekend include Lodge Grass at Powell County and Ennis at Lame Deer on Friday.
