DRUMMOND – Both Drummond basketball teams posted easy wins over Alberton at home Friday night. While the Boys were victorious by 27, the Lady Trojans won by a whopping 43.
Consistency and balanced scoring were all it took for Drummond to earn their sixth win of the District 13C season. They scored 16 points in every period but the fourth, while the Panthers could only muster a game-best three in the second quarter.
Kimber Parsons continued to set the pace for the locals with 19 points. Charlee Cline added 12, Casey James eight, and Hazel Sawfer six.
The win sets up a pivotal matchup on Valentine’s Day against Hot Springs. The Savage Heat are 7-2 in D13 play while the Lady Trojans are 6-3. A victory by the locals would tie them with Hot Springs with Drummond holding the tiebreaker. Each team would also have one game to play the following night: The Lady Trojans at 2-7 Noxon and the Savage Heat at 9-1 Lincoln.
Drummond has the week off to prepare for both games, with Friday’s home finale also being Senior Night. The Lady Trojans will lose just CyLeigh Langton to graduation at season’s end.

After not playing the opening stanza, sophomore Javi Ostler stepped up to lead Drummond with 20 points in his team’s rout of the Panthers.
Alberton stayed close, trailing just 15-10 after one quarter. But a 14-5 second and 20-11 third sealed the deal for the Trojans.
Ostler led all players in the game with point total, giving him 40 for the night when combined with his play in the junior varsity game. Michael James was the other Drummond scorer in double figures with 14.
The victory vaulted Drummond into the Top 4 of the District 13C standings at 6-3. They play No. 5 Hot Springs Friday for Senior Night, with the Savage Heat coming in at 5-4. A win by the Trojans will secure the bracket’s fourth seed and Drummond will avoid a play-in game prior to the tournament in Frenchtown the following week.
