Trojans fall just shy of beating West Yellowstone
FRENCHTOWN – Michael James banked home a three-pointer as time expired, but it was too little too late as the Trojans fell to West Yellowstone 52-51 Saturday in Frenchtown. The loss came in the Consolation Bracket Semifinals of the Boys C Western Division Tournament and ending their season.
The Wolverines held a scant lead for most of the game, holding a 32-27 lead after three quarters. But the Trojans were far from done. They out-paced West Yellowstone 24-20 over the final eight minutes, drawing the lead down to two several times. But when the Wolverines sank a pair of free throws with four seconds left to lead by four, Drummond was left with James’ bucket that left them just short.
Senior Trey Phillips led the Trojans with 17 points. James scored 11.
