Trojans falter in divisional opener, head to Consolation Bracket
FRENCHTOWN - West Yellowstone used strong surges in the first and fourth quarters to secure a 65-43 first-round victory over Drummond in the Class C Western Division Tournament.
The win lifts the Wolverines into the Winner's Bracket semifinal against Harrison-Willow Creek. The Trojans fall into the Consolation Bracket where they will face St. Regis at 2 p.m. Friday.
Drummond has faced St. Regis twice already this season, beating them both times.
Thursday night, the Wolverines jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one stanza. The Trojans battled back in the second, outscoring West Yellowstone 16-15 to trail by nine at halftime, 32-23.
The two squads played dead even in the third quarter before the Wolverines used a 21-8 fourth to earn the win.
Chase Goldade lead the locals with 14 points.
