VICTOR – The Drummond basketball teams stayed on track with wins over the Pirates in Victor Saturday.
Boys Varsity
Drummond 46, Victor 42
Trailing by one entering the final eight minutes of play, the Drummond Trojans were able to outscore the host Pirates by five in the quarter and secure the victory. The win keeps Drummond tied for first place with Darby, setting up a showdown February 12 for first place in the district and a first-round bye in the postseason tournament.
“Wasn't our greatest game tonight, but we did enough to get the win,” explained DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons after the game. “We didn't rebound well and just couldn't get settled in on offense. There was definitely a lid on the basket. We could hardly make a basket tonight and struggled from the foul line.”
The Trojans were 12-for-25 from the charity stripe while Victor was 11-for-16.
Caleb Parke led the locals with 17 points with reserve forward Ben Bradshaw contributing eight.
