Trojans ‘organized chaos’ leads to loss against visiting Wardens.
DRUMMOND – It was a frustrating night for the Drummond Trojans, watching a first-quarter lead turn into a 57-39 defeat at the hands of the visiting Powell County Wardens.
Sophomore guard Michael Goettle led the charge early, scoring six points to help the Trojans take a 14-11 lead at the end of one quarter, But that margin quickly dissipated as the Wardens went on a 20-5 run in the second to establish a lead they’d never relinquish.
“We just didn’t play with a lot of effort tonight,” said an exasperated Levi Parsons, DHS Head Coach. “It was that and our defense was sloppy and our offense, nobody seemed to know where they were supposed to be or what they were supposed to do. That’s a frustrating thing because for most of these kids it’s been four years of running it.
“It was just … organized chaos.”
Michael James led Drummond with 15 points while Kaiden Beck led all scorers for Powell County with 18.
The Trojans will try and right their ship January 17 when they host the Lynx from Lincoln.
