Trojans sail past Eagles in Missoula


VICTOR – A quartet of double-digit scorers helped the Drummond Trojans defeat Valley Christian on the road Tuesday night 69-51.

Drummond (8-0 in D13C) continued to roll as they beat Valley Christian for the second time this year. The Trojans established a 36-19 lead at halftime and would need it, as the host Eagles got hot in the second half and outscored the visitors 38-33 over the final 16 minutes.

The game was really decided in the paint, where the Trojans held a 36-21 margin in rebounding that included 17 on offense. Trey Phillips the way with 11 caroms, with Ben Brad Bradshaw adding nine and Scott Parke eight.

Phillips completed a double-double on the night, tying teammate Colt Parsons for high scoring honors with 17. Brody Rasor (14) and Bradshaw (11) also got into double-figure scoring.

“Great night for us (with) balanced scoring,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons, “and really rebounded the ball well.”

Drummond moves on to Darby Saturday to take on the Tigers in an afternoon affair.

Boys Junior Varsity

Drummond 50, Valley Christian 39

Devlin Coleman had 15 and Kadin Graveley 11 as the Trojan JV Boys rolled to an 11-point victory.


 

Lady Trojans

Drummond 60, Valley Christian 30

The Lady Trojans stayed atop the District 13C standings with a 30-point win over Valley Christian.

The odd numbered periods proved to be the undoing for the host team, as Drummond ran rampant in the first (23-3) and again in the third (18-0).

Kimber Parsons tore up the Eagle defense with 20 points, with Liz Perry doing the same in the paint with 18. Lexi Nelson also made her way into double figures with 14.

Sawyer Hessler did the bulk of the damage for the Lady Trojans scoring 10 of her team’s 16 points. Annabelle Yates, Grace Anderson and Piper Wetsch all added a bucket.
