Trojans sweep Lincoln to open district play

LINCOLN – The Drummond boys found out that Lincoln may not be the same pushover they have been for many a year, but rallied to earn a win and start their District 13C season with a 66-34 victory over the Lynx on the road.
The hosts put up a fight in the opening stanza, pacing the visitors as Drummond led 18-13. But it was then that the boys in blue clamped down on the Lynx defensively to outscore them 20-2 in the eight minutes leading up to halftime.
“Tonight was more of a dog fight than a basketball game but I'm happy with the win,” said DHS Head Coach Levi Parsons. “We saw some things we need to work on offensively and defensively and our free throw shooting has got to improve.
“Lincoln is a much improved team and is very, very physical and we were able to keep our cool and finish out the game strong.”
The Trojans swept the boards, with Ben Bradshaw completing the double-double getting 10 rebounds and 10 points. Trey Phillips and Michael James added eight each, with the latter also collecting five steals. Brody Rasor and Colt Parsons were tops in assists with four apiece, with Parsons also scoring a game-high 19.
Drummond will play a non-district foe Saturday against Arlee on the road.
