VFD Ducks descend on the Clark Fork River
DRUMMOND - The Valley Fire District's annual Duck Race was held Friday evening on the Clark Fork River as it runs alongside Town of Drummond Campground just south of town.
The event is a fundraiser for the local volunteer fire department, with supporters buying one or more of a thousand ducks for $5 each. The ducks are then run in heats of 250, with the top ten advancing to the final. The top three ducks pay the supporters with prize money.
This year's first place duck was #751, purchased by Dave Slobojan or Oregon. Second place went to a duck purchased by the Copper Queen Saloon in Helmville while third went to Dave Bersanti.
